Set up as a trial to learn if grant capital + venture building support would help African Assistive Tech (AT) ventures overcome the problems that stood in the way of scaling, the Assistive Tech Impact Fund playbook is a unique window into this UK aid funded project. It exlores the challenges, learnings & mechanisms for Assistive Tech ventures entering and scaling new markets in Africa.

The AT Impact Fund supported 5 ventures through a series of innovation sprints; from establishing resilient business models and developing user-centred products & services, to championing localisation & thinking through new ideas & market. The process explored how scale could be unlocked.

Offering a unique window into the learnings and experience of the fund itself, this playbook reflects on the experiences of individual ventures entering ecosystems and navigating new markets. A resource designed for future fund leaders and ventures, to get a head start in navigating complex ecosystems, market barriers and mechanisms to success.

A playbook is a mechanism to provide practical guidance within a particular domain or context, and is often focused on overcoming challenges or disseminating the use of certain approaches, methods or tools. The AT Impact Fund playbook has been created as a resource for entrepreneurs, venture builders, funders, accelerators and investors - enabling audiences to dip into relevant topics of interest and learn from the experiences of others.

The AT Impact Fund is a partnership between Global Disability Innovation Hub, BRINK and Catalyst Fund as part of UK aid's AT2030 programme.

The playbook is best accessed in it's digital form - but is also availible to view as a PDF or download in plain text word format designed to maximise accessibility.
