IncluCITY Webinar Series
Urban areas are expanding rapidly; by 2050, 70% of the world’s population will live in cities. But growth also brings challenges: climate impacts, rising informal settlements, and persistent barriers to essential services, especially for people with disabilities.
To explore how we can tackle these challenges, the Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub) hosted the IncluCITY webinar series, bringing together global experts, policymakers, urban planners, and community advocates to share practical solutions for building more inclusive cities.
The series built on insights from GDI Hub’s Delivering Inclusive Design in Cities: A Global Action Report, but each session was designed as a standalone conversation packed with real-world examples and actionable ideas.
Here’s what the series covered:
-
IncluCITY: From Global Insight to Local Action:The opening session established the context for our series, examining the importance of inclusive urban design and the role of local action in addressing global challenges.
-
IncluCITY 2: Creating Inclusive Infrastructure:This session examined the fundamental principles of inclusive design across buildings, public spaces, and transportation systems.
-
IncluCITY 3: Making Services Inclusive: Here, the focus shifted to services, from healthcare and education to everyday amenities, and how to design systems that are connected, accessible, and equitable.
-
IncluCITY 4: Climate Resilience and Innovation for Inclusive Cities: The final session explored how disability inclusion can shape climate adaptation, resilience, and innovation, ensuring no one is left behind in the transition to sustainable cities.
Across all four webinars, one thing was clear: inclusive design isn’t an optional extra, it’s the foundation of resilient, thriving cities.
